About Me

I bring to my practice a diverse background and blending of experiences from the educational, business, and medical communities as well as the mental health field. I earned a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing since 1991.

Often asked "what do I specialize in?"  my answer is my philosophy about people and why I do this work. Even though equipped with many tools and excellent training, I do not have a magic wand. Working with adults, I am privileged to hear and share in the pain and joys of my clients and their families. I possess no magic wand nor claim the power for a "happily ever after."  I can only walk with clients and support them in their journey for wellness in their life. Areas of special interest include: anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and the stresses that occur at the transition points in the life cycle of individuals and families.

In addition to my counseling practice, I co-founded and  served as Executive Director for PaddleQuest:Adventures of Discovery, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) non profit corporation, from 2001 - 2011. The organization provided educational experiences in outdoor settings creating opportunities for reflection and self development and served to strengthen one’s connections and sense of responsibility to the human community and natural environment. Reach for the Stars was a 7 day wilderness experience for teens in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota. Other wilderness programs included Women's Journey, Co Ed Journey, and Committed to the Journey for couples.
